Subsequently, Pikmin 2, was released in 2004. The image song, “Ai no Uta” by Strawberry Flower, appeared in Japanese commercials for the game, but quickly became an unexpected hit, finally exceeding the sales of Pikmin. Pikmin is a 3D top-down strategy game, with the player controls Captain Olimar, the katakana for Olimar, who says “Orimo, kana spelling is an anagram of” Mario “?) In a third-person perspective. Olimar is followed by Pikmin, which he heads.

In 2009, the two Pikmin games were re-released for the Wii control as part of the new play! series. The core gameplay in Pikmin is to recover the wreckage of the boat using three varieties of Pikmin available in different combinations. Olimar discovers tricolor hybrid animals and plants willingly follow his orders and help recover the remains of the boat. He calls these creatures “Pikmin” after his favorite brand Pikpik carrots. Each color has its own special abilities, the three colors should be used to overcome various obstacles and finish the game.

In Pikmin, the main character is Captain Olimar, Hocotate an astronaut on the planet. The story starts when Olimar is an intergalactic take a vacation in outer space. However, during the flight, a comet hits the spaceship, the SS Dolphin (a reference to the codename of the Nintendo GameCube, “Project Dolphin”), which ran in the gravity field of a planet unknown. Some parts of the spacecraft falling into the falls and accidents. Olimar ship damaged during takeoff.

When she regained consciousness, Olimar discovers that the planet’s atmosphere contains high levels of oxygen, a deadly element to their people, and may remain on the planet for only 30 days before your life support system stops working . Olimar must retrieve many parts of the spacecraft so he can rebuild his ship and return to Hocotate. Although initially Olimar says in his journal entries to the needs of all 30 games as the game that allows certain parties in May is not really necessary to take off, and indeed can not win the game without these parts.

As this component of the symbiosis develops, Olimar discovers parts of his ship and runs the Pikmin planet, who wants to Earth. The game has three purposes, depending on the success of the player. It is assumed that the real end is where Olimar brings together all the pieces of his spaceship and leaves the world with success, as he says goodbye to his new friends.

In the recovery of parts of the ship, in general, three steps. The first is to locate the part and its location scout, noting obstacles Pikmin is necessary to remove or defeat enemies. The second step is to select the appropriate numbers and colors of Pikmin needed to complete the tasks. This should be done with some caution, since only 100 Pikmin may exist outside of the onion in a given time. The third step is to secure the room, usually in a place not easily accessible or in the hands of a powerful enemy. After securing the hand can be reduced. The 30 pieces were recovered in this way. Only 5 parts 30 vessels are not necessary. The 25 others are necessary to reach the final when Olimar explosions in space.

Weather in the game is divided into 30 days. With the exception of the first day, which lasts until the player ship is part of every day in the game are about 15 minutes. At the end of each day, all Pikmin must be immediately stopped, work stopped, Olimar and Pikmin must return to the ship. The reason is that many of the creatures that inhabit the Pikmin planet are nocturnal predators and eat all Pikmin that are on the surface after sunset. If Olimar does not collect all 25 games in the mandatory ship within 30 days, the support systems of your boat of life and Olimar will die of oxygen poisoning. If so, then blasts into space and successfully returned home.

Pikmin naturally form groups within their own color, but a good cooperation with another color Pikmin. If allowed to split into groups during periods of inactivity, they separate along lines of color, but does not object to being put together. Pikmin live in houses that Olimar Onions names because they have a resemblance to vegetables. Each Onion is color specific, Pikmin and never saw an onion in a color different from yours. Pikmin reproduce by laying down dots of color or defeated their enemies with onions. The Onion lift the object with a beam of light, taking nutrients from the seeds, and produce more seeds from which new outbreak Pikmin. Onions only produce seeds that match your own color, and number of seeds produced depends on the object being converted. When these spores become purple, which in turn attack Olimar to be changed again. When they become white, which attack the enemies with spores, which resemble giant mushrooms, or join a group. When any Pikmin drink nectar from flowers that become the Pikmin are faster than the leaves or buds Pikmin, and can sometimes be harder than other Pikmin. The aim of the Challenge mode is to grow the largest number of Pikmin in a day as possible. The number of creatures in the Challenge mode is significantly higher than in the main game, and its distribution is changed. Although the discovery of new zones in the main game opens with a game in Challenge Mode, Challenge Mode does not affect gameplay in the main story mode. There is a limit of 999 Pikmin.
